Quiet Around Here

Post by ladyjubilee »

So does everyone have the the COVID blues too?

We haven't been able to be out and about as much, which means Bramble hasn't either. She did go with us to buy a new car. She did really well. I only had to remind her to leave it twice when she want attention. In fairness, one time it was when a toddler was running towards her. I would have actually let her be petted, but didnt want her scooting forward.

She is also doing really well with her take it and hold. She still doesnt want to take my cellphone, but since that's not an object she'd need to retrieve, it's fine (it's very slippery since it is glass.)

We are going to rent out the dock diving pool and give it another try.

I find it difficult to post anything lately. I get a rush of emotions every time I think about it.

I started checking the local shelters - same problem.

Leela has become quite clingy to me lately, and I'm afraid that will be a problem if I ever have to back to the office for work.

Mike-
When my girlfriend's dog passed, her cat literally took his place. In bed, waiting at the door, hanging out in the kitchen... It was heart warming and bittersweet.

They definitely grieve and need time.

Going to the shelters is so hard. All those great dogs needing a home, but it has to be the "right" dog.

Since you have experience, have you though about a military retiree?

I'm open to just about anything right now, I just don't want to jump in head first again.

I started thinking about how nice it would be to start with a real puppy, but I am too pro rescue to go to a breeder.

I'll probably submit a NADSR application tomorrow.

I haven't felt been on FB for a while now, but in the few rescue and re-home pages I followed there, the seemed to be a solid volume of dogs in both San Diego and Florida/Georgia/Alabama area

There's a lot of Malinois that need rescuing also. My Mal Zoe was a rescue essentially, she was a puppy when we got her. I've grown to like her over the years but she's my wife's dog. She's been my problem pup since she's a little more energetic and tends to have her Mal moment's spazzing out. She's calmed down more now that she's older. Her and my older Dutchie Asia are best friends.

So NY is a little too far for me to travel. I put my application in to NADSR, but there's nothing available for me right now.

I'm not in a hurry. The right dog for me will happen when it happens.

I loved the latest Foxy posts, but I am wondering where the photo contest entries are?

Let's keep the conversations going folks.

You'll find the right one, probably when you least expect it.

We're going dock diving in the morning if the weather holds.

Not a Dutch Shepherd, but I just emailed the shelter about Mario ->

https://www.petfinder.com/dog/mario-445 ... ter-fl299/

I love the part in the video where they dump a ton of tennis balls and he can't contain himself or figure out just what ball he wants.

He does have plant allergies, but 2 of my last 4 dogs had some kind of allergy - I can deal with it.

Mario's allergy seems to be a little worse than I had hoped. He's on monthly Cytopoint shots and Apoquel.

They seem to think that after 4 more treatments he won't need either anymore, but that doesn't jive with my experience with allergies. Calling my vet in a little while to find out what I might be in for.

I know all about the Apoquel, but never heard of Cytopoint. Anyone else know anything about it?

I haven't had experience with Cytopoint. Casper was on Apoquel for while, but like Peanuts, once we got him on Nutrish the allergies faded.

With Peanuts, multiple vets had us try a range of drugs. Only Nutrish helped.
